‘Zero Tolerance’ to Ragging

Hon’ble Supreme Court of India treats ragging as a human rights abuse and has declared it a CRIME.

Supreme Court Directive

“If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him/her.”

Key Points:
  1. Ragging is illegal and completely banned inside and outside the Institute, hostel, or campus.
  2. If a student is caught or reported, an FIR will be lodged against the culprit.
  3. Strict action, including termination of admission, will be taken for any ragging complaint.
  4. Parents/Guardians must counsel their ward to avoid engaging or inciting ragging.
Definition of Student Ragging:

Any conduct by a student, whether verbal, written, or physical, including teasing, rough treatment, lewd acts, rowdy or obscene behavior, causing psychological or physical harm, forcing acts against a student's will, or generating shame, embarrassment, or danger to a fresher or junior student.
